I'm going to spend Christmas and New Year with the family in Switzerland. So I went to Hertz and booked in advance, I chose a V70 Diesel 4X4. But as we all know, it's either that or something "similar". What similar thing do you think I might get?

And before you say that "This game is no fun, you can just go and pick a car" last year I booked a C-Class and ended up with a minivan because apparently the minivan was a higher class vehicle.

Clarkson likes that car. I would also say a Passat wagon would be an acceptable substitute, although I'd prefer the Volvo.

I'd say Octavia as well. But you never know, my little brother just rented a car for a few days, booked a 'Fiat 500 Sport or similar', and when he went to pick it up he actually got a Fiat 500 Sport.

Well, I think you really ought to get something at least semi-premium if not a Volvo - but I reckon rental companies would stretch that as far as Skoda.

Maybe, I went for the v70 because it is luxurious and I'm not overpaying. I'd hate to get a Golf Estate and have Hertz tell me that they are all "estates". A Skoda Superb would be really nice.
